FAQs

  • IJM chapters mobilize their campuses to: pray for God’s justice in the world, advocate for U.S. anti-trafficking legislation, and fundraise for IJM’s operations to protect half a billion people from violence. IJM chapters leverage the power of college students to make a difference, in service of people facing poverty and injustice.

  • In the 2023-24 school year, IJM chapters raised over $85,000 to fund more than nine Freedom Packages, the equivalent of nine rescue operations and long term trauma counseling for nine groups of survivors. While IJM chapters fundraise for the work happening overseas, they also play a critical role in bringing awareness to the reality of slavery and violence around the world through prayer and Congressional advocacy.

  • IJM chapter members typically spend 1-5 hours per month attending general body meetings and chapter events such as a prayer gathering or a Threads thrift store fundraiser. Each campus chapter has a different rhythm for meetings and events. IJM chapter leaders can expect to spend 1-2 hours per week in leadership team meetings, running chapter social media/communications, or planning for upcoming events.

  • If you are passionate about ending modern slavery, you should start an IJM Chapter. Starting a chapter will deepen your connection to anti-trafficking work and with those on your campus who share your passion. You are not alone in your heart for justice—an IJM Chapter is an avenue to build a community of justice-seekers and be part of bringing an end to trafficking and violence around the world.
